How to Roast Veggies Easy Peasy

Roasting vegetables seems like a simple task, but many people have a hard time with it. I blame the number 350. There should be a Sesame Street episode where that number is banished from kitchens across the world to dig caves somewhere. When you roast veggies at 350 and over-crowd the pan, you get mush or dehydrated veggies. My video is really great and shows you step by step how to roast vegetables perfectly every time, but if you don't happen to like watching videos: EASY STEPS TO ROAST VEGETABLES PERFECTLY Cut all veggies the same size (1.5" or smaller [...]

Easy and Scrumptious Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb

I buy racks of lamb all the time, but I never roast the whole rack. I always cut the rack into riblets. I was intimidated by the idea of roasting the whole rack and getting the doneness just right. I didn't think that it wouldn't be such a difficult thing to do, since racks of lamb are so little. I did a little research and pieced together a super easy and fast way to make an herb crusted rack of lamb that belongs in a fancy restaurant. Lamb is expensive, so buy it at Trader Joe's and Costco or buy [...]

Devils on Horseback a.k.a. Prunes Wrapped in Bacon

Colombians love prunes wrapped in bacon. I, personally, feel that every occasion is the perfect occasion to eat prunes wrapped in bacon. I used to get weird looks from people who had not heard of these when I would mention making them. Thank goodness Devils on horseback became popular via the internet and the food channels, now people give me confused stares for different reasons. There is a place in San Francisco called Sweet Maple that makes something called Millionaire's Bacon. I don't know if they invented it, but it is pretty crazy and delicious. It is spicy candied bacon. [...]

My Best Banana Bread Ever

I believe that this banana bread will knock your socks off while also surprising you. It is made with less sugar than the average banana bread bear and uses white whole wheat flour. I adapted this banana bread recipe from the Neiman Marcus "Pure and Simple" banana bread recipe from when women used to wear girdles and panty hose every day. For most recipes I don't really specify ingredients much, but since baking is mostly a science, I recommend that you follow my recipe as closely as possible. Ingredients 4 ripe bananas (if 3 bananas, up the sugar to 3/4 [...]

30 Second Chocolate Love Dust a.k.a DIRT

I have decided, after publishing this video, that I am going to change the name of this lovely dust to.... DIRT... I think it will sound very diner-esque when I offer my guests DIRT for their waffles. I discovered Chocolate love dust at the Villagio Inn and Spa in Yountville / Napa, California. I happened to get married at the Villagio, but for years before that, my husband and I would take advantage of last minute deals and drive an hour to Napa to escape. What I most looked forward to was the breakfast that comes with the room. This [...]
