MENUS I LOVE PART 1: Delarosa SF

People wonder why I don't "review" restaurants on Tasty Bits and I always respond by saying that I like to write about topics that are accessible to all, so I try not to write about restaurants, until now. There are certain menus that I love because they either contain a few items that are ridiculously good, I crave when I haven't had them for a while and/or want to try at home. I figure that if I can get chefs to share a recipe or recipes from their amazing menus, then it becomes relevant to all. Of course, you can [...]

DONT FEAR THE FAVA!

There are about two handfuls of culinary experiences that have changed my life like the first time I ate foie gras or the first time I had a pizza with a farm egg on top. The first time I ate fresh fava beans was in Alicante Spain in 2005, before that I was only aware of them via Hannibal Lecter. Back to Spain. WHAT IS THE COLOMBIAN HOLY TRINITY?

I once volunteered to design a menu for my favorite Colombian restaurant at the time because all they had was a human sized chalk board in Spanish that they would place on a chair at your table when you sat down. They had nothing for the Gringos and God forbid 4 tables sit down at once. Even if you have two human sized chalk boards, that still doesn't cut it. I embarked on this menu-designing adventure with vigor and while exploring all of the dishes, I realized that every single dish was described as … in a sauce of tomatoes, [...]

CHECK ME OUT ON eHOW, Woo Hoo!!!

I have made it to the big time!!, well, according to my mom and those who love me, I have. I made a little video series for eHow recently that includes 10 videos on Summer Party Drinks and Snacks. eHow gave me 35 titles to choose from and I chose the 10 that scared me the least. I shot the videos with video guru, Steven Watkins at Kitchen on Fire in Berkeley, Ca. The folks at KOF were very kind to let me use their wonderful set up. They were gearing up to do a special cooking class for a [...]
