Do you swirl in public? Do you know why you are swirling? Do you think that people who swirl their wine are pompous donkeys?
Watch my video and watch how “not” to swirl your wine and my simple and idiot-proof swirling technique.
“Why do we swirl wine? To allow oxygen to get into the wine: Swirling releases the esters, ethers, and aldehydes that combine with oxygen to yield the bouquet of the wine. In other words, swirling aerates the wine and gives you a better smell.”
Some people say that you should only swirl wine if you don’t like the way your wine tastes. I disagree. I feel like you should taste your wine first and that a little swirling will actually improve the taste of any wine. I am not an expert though.
